CIS Appoints New Head of School
A message from the CIS Board of Directors
The Canadian International School of Phnom Penh is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Daun Yorke as Head of School, effective August 2026.
Ms. Yorke is an experienced international educator who has held senior leadership roles across Hong Kong, Mainland China, Korea, and Vietnam. Her background includes Head of School and principalship roles in well-established international schools, with a strong focus on instructional leadership, accreditation, student wellness, and professional learning.
She brings extensive experience with the Canadian curriculum and the International Baccalaureate (IB) programs, including leadership in IB authorization, evaluation, and ongoing program development. Ms. Yorke is an experienced workshop leader with the IB, supporting schools and leaders across the Asia-Pacific region. She is also an experienced accreditation officer participating with the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) and the Council of International Schools.
“It was a pleasure to visit the CIS campus in the fall and to meet students, parents, and staff. I am excited to join this dynamic community and to work together to build on the school’s strong foundations and shared commitment to learning,” said Ms. Yorke, reflecting on her experience touring the CIS campuses and meeting staff.
The school also wishes to formally recognize Ms. Leah Dushenski for her dedicated service as Head of School over the past four-plus years. Under her leadership, CIS strengthened its academic programs, expanded its IB Programme with the successful PYP authorization, achieved its first three graduating classes, and continued to grow as a respected international school in Phnom Penh. Her contribution has played a significant role in shaping the school CIS is today.
