After-School Activities
Discovering personal interests
At CIS, after-school activities enhance the student experience outside of the classroom. Activities cater to a wide range of interests, from sports and arts to environmental stewardship and Model United Nations. Participation in after-school activities not only promotes teamwork and leadership but also supports student well-being.
ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Students in Senior Kindergarten to Grade 5 have a wide variety of sports, including swimming, and clubs to choose from. Clubs and sports focus on fundamental skill development. There is no ability-based sorting, which means that all students who join will be able to participate, subject to space availability. Sports and clubs are organized by season in order to encourage students to develop their skills across multiple sports and activities. Friendly matches, tournaments, and showcase events are planned throughout the year. Sport team training sessions, local tournaments, and club meetings are included in tuition fees. There may be additional costs for special events or team uniforms.
Students may also join a range of unique extracurricular activities provided by external service providers. Activities include ice skating, roller skating, mountain biking, robotics, dance, karate and more. Extracurricular activities are not included in tuition fees.
MIDDLE SCHOOL AND HIGH SCHOOL
CIS offers a variety of sports opportunities for students in Grades 6–12. Sports include basketball, soccer, volleyball, swimming, track and field, badminton, and cross-country running. Students may try out for representative sports teams if they wish to train and compete internationally as part of the ASEAN Sports and Activities Conference (ASAC). Developmental sports teams are a great way for students to improve their skills and join local matches and tournaments in a less competitive environment. Sport team training sessions and club meetings are included in tuition fees. There may be additional costs for special events, international tournaments or team uniforms.
Students can explore their interests and develop skills through a variety of after-school clubs. From the Daily Bears student news show to Khmer Club, there are plenty of opportunities to collaborate with peers with similar interests. Club meetings are included in tuition fees; however, there may be additional costs for special events or club uniforms.
Prospective universities often value student participation in clubs and sports when assessing applications for enrolment.
