Australian-born, Cambodian-Chinese author Alice Pung visited CIS and met with students on Tuesday.

Alice engaged students with her humorous and heartwarming stories of growing up Asian in Australia.

She gave students tips and tricks for writing stories, and insisted that everyone can be a writer because we all have the tools needed: a pen, paper, and our 5 senses.

Alice has published several books for children, adolescents, and adults. Her books are studied in secondary schools and universities in Australia as well as around the world.

Her website (www.alicepung.net) tells more of her achievements and accolades, and contains some excellent resources on her numerous books, essays, articles and interviews.

Alice is a qualified lawyer and still works as a legal researcher in the area of minimum wages and pay equity. She lives with her husband Nick at Janet Clarke Hall, the University of Melbourne, where she is the Artist in Residence.
