On December 6th, 45 students in Grades 5-9 and 5 staff from CIS travelled to Siem Reap for the 24th annual Angkor Wat International Half-Marathon, which had over 10,000 runners. Many of the students are in the “CIS Run Club,” and took part in the 5 km race.
Before the race… …and after!
Some of our athletes had impressive finishes: two students finished 65th and 45th out of 1831 participants in the 5 km race. Another student finished 14th out of 2123 participants in the women’s category of the 10 km race. These results include adult runners as well, so quite the showing for our athletes!
Our Athletics Director, Mr. Garofolo, also ran and finished the 21 km race in under 2 hours. Congrats!
Congratulations to everyone who participated in the marathon and showed such dedication and school spirit.
We are now setting our sights on the Phnom Penh International Marathon in June 2020!
